On June 3rd, Nash Ag Center will host a Farmworker Safety Awareness Day. In the morning, we will start with NC Agromedicine Institute offering a presentation on mental health and also a respirator fit test for any worker that is assisting an operator with fumigation. We will then have ECU Health come out for a CPR training. To follow, a presentation about heat stress and worker protection standards will be provided by cooperative extension. We will gather for lunch and have Spanish pesticide credits offered after lunch comes to a close. 2 hours of X credits and 2 hours of V credits will be offered from 1-5 p.m. It is okay just to attend for pesticide credits, or just for the morning talks and respirator fit testing. Testing with medical clearance is $50 and an invoice can be sent to the grower for bulk testing after the event. Please call the Ag Center to make an appointment if you seek respirator fit testing. Please register online for the Safety Awareness Day.
