On June 3rd, Nash Ag Center will host a Farmworker Safety Awareness Day. In the morning, we will start with NC Agromedicine Institute offering a presentation on mental health and also a respirator fit test for any worker that is assisting an operator with fumigation. We will then have ECU Health come out for a CPR training. To follow, a presentation about heat stress and worker protection standards will be provided by cooperative extension. We will gather for lunch and have Spanish pesticide credits offered after lunch comes to a close. 2 hours of X credits and 2 hours of V credits will be offered from 1-5pm. It is okay just to attend for pesticide credits, or just for the morning talks and respirator fit testing. Testing with medical clearance is $50 and an invoice can be sent to the grower for bulk testing after the event. Please call the Ag Center to make an appointment if you seek respirator fit testing.
