Edgecombe County 4-H, 2026 Summer Fun is Here!

Check out the camps that we are offering this summer and get ready to register! Don't forget to enroll in 4-H online first.

Current 4-H'ers  or Club Members can stop by the office to register in person May 5th, 8:00am-5:00pm or May 6th, 9:00am-6:00pm.

Open Enrollment (anyone New to 4-H or Returning 4-H'ers) starts May 7th, 8:00am-5:00pm or May 8th, 8:00am-6:00pm.

Registration will continue until camps are full. Register durning normal business hours Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm.

2026 Summer Fun Edgecombe County 4-H

4-H is the youth development program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension. The Edgecombe County 4-H Program offers Summer Fun – a series of educational camps designed to build life skills through shared experiences and hands-on learning. Camps are open to youth ages 5 to 18, and whose activities are age- specific. Youth must be between the ages of 5 to 18 years of age as of January 1, 2026. Follow the 3 easy steps to register:

  1. 4-H Enrollment Go to nc.4honline.com to set up your account. All youth are required to have an active 4-H online account in order to participate.
  2. Camp Registration Registration is in-person on a first-come, first-served basis. Turn in the Summer Fun Registration Form (back of packet) at the 4-H Office. Some camps require additional paperwork that is available at registration. Please make sure all information is correct. Waitlists will begin once a camp is full. NO PHONE, EMAIL, FAX, OR MAIL-IN REGISTRATION will be accepted.
  3. Payment Camp fees are due at time of registration. Please bring cash or check payable to Edgecombe County 4-H. Spaces will NOT be held without payment. Waitlists do not require payment up front, but will be due if a space opens and your child attends. Returned checks will result in a $30 charge.

Additional Information:

  • Fees cover insurance and supplies. Camp fees are non-refundable, unless the camp is canceled.
  • Space is limited, so once enrolled, your child is expected to attend and participate. If your child can no longer attend, please contact the 4-H Office as soon as possible so we can offer the space to a child on the waitlist.
  • Please keep track of which camps your child has registered for. You may receive an email 1-3 days before the camp as confirmation or containing additional reminders, but please do not rely on this as a reminder.
  • Start and end times are enforced. Please arrive on time and pick up your children on time. We are unable to wait for late campers when departing for “away” trips, due to schedules established with our partnering organizations.
  • Due to NC law, 4-H staff are not allowed to supply or install car seats. If a car seat or booster seat is needed, please provide one and place it in the County van. Your child’s safety is very important to us!
  • If your child will be taking any medication (prescription or over-the-counter) during a 4-H camp, please advise the 4-H staff and supply medication in the original labeled container for the adult staff to be responsible for.

If your camper enjoys decorating their favorite dessert, then this camp is for them. Campers will learn decorating techniques with their own cake. Each camper will take their creations home to share with their families.

Cloverbud Chef Camp

Cloverbuds will learn their way around the kitchen through fun kitchen activities. They will learn about kitchen safety, knife safety, food safety, how to measure ingredients, and how to follow a recipe. This is a hands-on cooking class.

Paint pARTy!

Come make art with us! Have fun making and showing off your art. Paint a canvas and exercise your creativity.We encourage everyone to enter their art in the Wilson County Fair & NC State Fair this fall.

4-H Presentations: District Activity Day

Presentation and Grilling - this is a great program for all 4-H’ers to participate in! Learn about a topic you’re interested in and teach others about it! You will gain confidence in front of an audience and hone your communication skills. We start working on presentations in May - let us know what you’d like to present on and we’ll be glad to help you develop your presentation.

Betsy-Jeff Penn 4-H Camp

This is a sleep away residential camp. A six-day summer camping experience for your child. Campers participate in a variety of activities including kayaking, archery, rock wall climbing, swimming, arts & crafts, cookouts, campfires, nature exploration, team building, high ropes and more. Lazy 5 Ranch

Join us for a horse drawn wagon ride through this privately owned zoo. With more than 750 animals from 6 different continents, this is sure to be a fun and educational experience. Campers will need to bring money for lunch.

Junior Grill Masters

Join us for Junior Grill Masters, an exciting educational program where you’ll discover exactly how to cook using a grill. Learn food and grill safety while preparing a tasty treat from our grills. This is for any youth wanting to try their hand at grilling for competition or just for fun.

Poultry Judging Competition

This competition is for members of our Poultry Judging team. They will use their knowledge that they learned at the practices to compete in the knowledge areas of interior & exterior, shell grading and parts of a chicken..

Jeanette’s Pier Trip

Join us as we take a trip to Jeanette’s Pier and learn all about the squid from the inside out. Our campers will learn the basic skills necessary to catch a fish off of the pier. Students learn how to cast, reel and the proper catch and release techniques, while fishing on the pier. Campers will need to bring money for lunch.

Cloverbud Camp: Discovering 4-H

Our 5-7 year old 4-Hers are called Cloverbuds and this is such an exciting time in their 4-H career. Our Cloverbud Camp is designed to help them explore all the different areas of 4-H. Cloverbuds will learn about horticulture, cooking, animals, STEM and of course arts and crafts.

4-H Feathers & Fun Poultry Project & Show

Would you like to learn more about raising and showing chickens, then this program is for you. 4-H youth will receive 3 Chicks of a laying breed. Breed will be determined by 4-H staff and availability of chicks at hatchery. Chick pick up will be July 9th. Chicken show will be in October 2026. Details will be provided to those that register.

Fishing Derby Friday

Fridays are for Fishing! Join us for a fun day of fishing at The Edenton National Fish Hatchery. Bring money for lunch and grab your favorite fishing hat. Closed toed Shoes are mandatory, everything else will be provided. Prizes will be awarded.

4-H Electric Congress

Electric Congress is for those 4-Hers that have completed an electric project and project record book. Youth learn many life skills while participating in this program, but also generate more enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). If your youth is interested in participating in this program in the future reach out to Tanya Heath or Missy Treffer.

The Great Bear Expedition!

Come with us as we learn all about bears. How much do bears have to eat to prepare for winter? Learn how bears survive by “living” as a bear for a season...will you be ready for winter? Then take a walk with us through the Bear-Ology Wildlife Museum. Pack a lunch, your curiosity and some spending money for snacks.

BY LAND, AIR & SEA: HARBOR OF HOSPITALITY!

Get ready for an unforgettable day exploring the Harbor of Hospitality (Elizabeth City), where our adventure spans land, air, and sea! We’ll start our journey on solid ground, touring the historic streets of Elizabeth City before heading to see the U.S. Coast Guard Base, one of the largest and most vital commands in the nation. From there, we’ll look to the skies at TCOM, the world-renowned "Blimp Base," to hopefully catch a glimpse of a blimp that dominates the Albemarle skyline. To cap off the day, we’ll transition to the water for a sailing excursion across the harbor with sailing instructor Mrs. Carol Terryberry! Youth will need to bring a change of clothes and water shoes as well as money for lunch.

Lost Recipes: Teen Cooking with VR

In this camp we will be exploring lost recipes from other cultures using VR: Ancient Greece, China and Yucatan Maya. Here is the twist...we will get to taste these dishes after our VR experience. Join us for an unique experience.

NC 4-H Congress

Teens wanting to attend the full NC 4-H Congress must give a presentation at DAD. NC 4-H Congress is an opportunity to practice and develop leadership skills, learn about your community, participate in service projects, participate in the democratic process through campaigning and electing state 4-H officers, and HAVE FUN with fellow 4-H’ers!

Nature Navigators Camp

Join us as we navigate nature. Our day will include hiking around ponds, enjoying a planetarium show and kayaking. Pack a lunch, good shoes (closed toed) and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Livestock Judging Contest

3D Art & Tech Camp

Participants will explore creativity and innovation through hands-on 3D design in this exciting camp experience. Activities will include learning to use 3D doodle pens, designing with 3D programs, creating digital models, and bringing ideas to life using 3D printers at NC Wesleyan. Lunch is included.

Lil’ Clover Scouts (Cloverbud)

This camp is a fun, hands-on program designed to help kids explore the exciting world of agriculture! On Day 1, scouts will dig into the basics of crops and plant growth—learning how seeds turn into the foods we eat. On Day 2, the adventure continues with pollinators and farm animals! Kids will learn how bees and other pollinators help crops grow, and then explore how farmers care for livestock. With hands-on learning, make agriculture come alive in a way that’s engaging, educational, and full of discovery!

Summer Teen Intern

Are you looking for something to do this summer and between the ages of 13 and 18? How about working with 4-H! As a Teen Intern you will work alongside our 4-H Staff to bring fun and rewarding activities to other 4-H youth. Grow your skills and make this your best summer! Youth will be interviewed for this position.
