Join us for the 4-H Down East Dairy Project to learn more about Jersey heifer calves. This project will allow youth to get hands on experience with gentle calves while learning about their life cycle, animal care, the dairy industry, and preparing for a show.

The project is sponsored by Simply Natural Creamery and Jersey Farm in Ormondsville, NC and hosted by Greene County 4-H. Each calf is approximately 4-5 months old. Participants are required to attend at least one practice each week. The two available practice days are Sundays 2-4 p.m. and Thursday 5-7 p.m.

DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS- FOR 2020 WE CAN ONLY ACCEPT YOUTH AGES 11-18.

We are very sad that we can no offer the same experience for 10 and under participants this year. We hope that this will change, but as of now we must stick to those guidelines. Additionally, if the NC Governor or NCSU changes makes programs more restrictive, we may have to cancel the program. Refunds will be issued if the program is cancelled.

We must keep the amount of participants onsite to 25 or less. This year we can only allow 25 participants (with one parent) and there will be no partnering. Each child will have their own calf. We can NOT allow additional parents or siblings to attend at practices. When you sign up, you must select to either practice on Sundays or Thursdays. We can not have all participants coming on one day.

If you are not already enrolled in North Carolina 4-H, you will be asked to enroll online: 4-H Forms- Online Registration  Select NC, Set up Family Profile,  then add ‘youth’.

This event is also educational! We require each child to complete a 4-H Down East Dairy Project Activity Book.

Registration is via Eventbrite only. You must register and pay online. When you click below, you will be redirected to the Eventbrite website.
