Respirator Fit-Test
March 24th, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

East Carolina Ag & Livestock Arena
1175 Kingsboro Rd., Rocky Mount

The NC Agromedicine Institute will be offering a respirator fit test event on Wednesday, March 24th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the East Carolina Ag & Livestock Arena in Rocky Mount. More products, such as Gramoxone, will require the use of a respirator and fit-test documentation. Please email mwshaw2@ncsu.edu or call the office 252.641.7827 to sign up to attend this event to schedule a time.

Medical clearance must be obtained prior to fit testing by each one desiring to be fit tested. Clearance can be obtained by your doctor or fill out the online OSHA questionnaire below

OSHA Questionnaire

Farmers must turn in their Medical Clearance Forms to Mason Shaw by Friday, March 19th.

The cost for Medical Clearance and Fit Testing through the Institute is $35 per person. For only the fit test then the cost is $25 per person made payable to NC Agromedicine Institute

During the fit testing, we check blood pressure, height, weight. Spirometry will be not be performed at the present time, instead a pulse ox reading will be obtained. Then we perform the actual fit testing. The goal is to make sure all our farmers are medically safe to use a respirator.

If the person requesting fit testing has a respirator, they must bring it with them (filters incuded). If you do not have a respirator the NC Agromedicine Institute will have inventory for you to purchase at the time. Please make sure filters/cartridges can be obtained for that respirator. Current WPS regulations state filters/cartridges must be replaced after every 8 hours of cumulative use.

Small, medium, and large sizes of the 3M half face and the North half face are available to purchase.

Due to COVID 19, the respirator fit testing procedure for the NC Agromedicine Institute will be guided by the CDC standards of safety.
