Bee Friendly Day – Rocky Mount Farmers Market
“BEE” Friendly Field Day
At The Rocky Mount Farmer’s Market
Saturday, April 8, 2017
8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Honey bees have an important relationship with many fruits and vegetables. This field day will give people the opportunity to see what beekeeping is about and find out what happens inside a working bee hive. We will open a hive of bees and locate the different types of bees in a colony and see where honey and pollen are stored. Other activities will include a display of beekeeping equipment and bees as beneficial insects. Persons attending should understand that we will be dealing with live bees and there is a possibility of a sting and anyone allergic to bee stings may not wish to attend. Long pants and a light long sleeve shirt are recommended. Sponsored by North Carolina Cooperative Extension and the Coastal Plain Beekeeping Chapter of the N.C.State Beekeepers Association.
